Program at Redlands Art Gallery

Here are a couple pics of my art at the program last night. I have more coming-my friend Cindy took a bunch! I am proud of myself-I did it! I talked in front of a crowd! It went very well! I got some really great feedback too!
The picture on the right is my art on the table-you can see the mirror above that. The people in the audience could see it from there!
See the butterfly piece in the middle? They raffled that off, and my friend Cindy Lantier got it!~

Art Show

Here are some pics from the Art Show :) This is the Multi Media Mini Show in Redlands , CA. All pieces have to be 14 1/2" or less in size.
I took pics of just some of my favorites! The blown glass thing is amazing-there was another one too-artist name is Vicky Olson. The Head thing -very cool! Artists name Is Jeff Owens and he had some other pieces of wall art that were great too. The Guy next to " Bart's Dad" is a guy I REALLY admire, his name is Bill Smith, Outsider Artist Extroardinaire! His piece was made of Candle Wax and other mixed media. I have to say he is one of the people I always enjoy seeing at these things. I love his attitude and he is such a fun guy! And last but not least, my art on the wall and also a pic of me with my art too :)
I cannot forget to mention I got to hang out with my friend Cindy Lantier too-thats always fun :)

Prepping for my workshop

I have to say I am a bundle of nerves! My "Program" is on Tuesday night , where I take my art to display and talk about! I normally don't do crowds, so I am hoping I can just get through this with flying colors. And, I hope they like what I am taking to display!

Next Saturday I am teaching my first ever workshop. We are going to be doing several Image transfer techniques (those of you who follow my blog know how I LOVE image transfers!), we are going to do some techniques for backgrounds on canvases and also we are going to be painting custom papers to use in our work! And then there's the basics I am gonna talk about-design, balance, etc. I really want the people who have enrolled in the class to take home alot of info and I so want them to have a good time! Its an all-day workshop.

I had hoped to have been 100% prepared for this workshop by today but alas, I am not. Last week my kids were out of school and because of that and a sick kid, it just didn't get done.

Oh well, the kids are back to school this week and I should have much more time to focus on it and get totally ready. It is close to being all completely planned, but I have a bunch of little things to do.

Here is one of the backgrounds we are going to do :)

Bird Piece updated

I kept walking past this thinking it just needed one more thing, even though I thought it was done before. I added a few rusty washers underneath the bird. I think it looks better!
Wish I could get a better pic of this without all the glare!

Juried in!

Apparently this was a TOUGH judge. He either was not looking for collage or didn't like it. He did not accept many collages at all, but he at least accepted ONE of mine. I am happy I just got in. This is the one he chose!

Reception is Sunday!

Currently I am working hard getting ready for my workshop and "program" next week. Whew. Its almost here!

Bird Collage

The bird image on this is an inkjet image transfer to fabric! It wasn't the image I had originally planned to use-I just picked it because the colors went better. The paper on here are handpainted too. And of course my new love-drips!

Entered a Juried Art Show Today

Every year locally at a gallery they have a "Multi Media Mini Show" for smaller works of art (everything must be under 14 1/2"). This is my third time entering this show-I hope I get in . I got into the others no problem.
Pictured here are the 3 pieces I entered .
Fingers Crossed!
I was Thrilled upon arriving there to see one of my most favorite pieces in the window from a previous show-it was one of my purchase award pieces. It made my day!

okay okay, Its done now

I had an idea for this.......it was truly bugging me as to what to do here. The top of it just needed something, so I added drips! what fun! Its done now! :)
I had to laugh today-I have never seen a real thistle before. I thought it was a flower-my mom said she looked in the dictionary and its a WEED!!LOL

Oh well, I still think they are neat looking :)

Thistle

I added a bit of gold leafing to the bottom.............I am sort of stuck on this one now. I am afraid to add more for fear it will be too much!

Canvas coming right along

Here's the canvas I showed you all yesterday-its coming right along :)

This thistle image has really been calling to me. Its an image transfer. The photograph in the upper left is an inkjet image transfer-so there are 2 different transfers on here :)

There is what looks like a little shine to the left of the Thistle-actually those are rub on x's-to connect the image to the left side.

the papers on here are hand painted

Fun transferring images

With my new epson printer with durabrite inks and Apollo Transparencies!

I was a skeptic, as to whether or not Apollo's really worked different than others-and I
can tell you that all the things I heard were true! The Apollo transparencies work like a dream! I had some other Transparencies and the ink just did not come off like the Apollo.
Here are the two I have done so far today! One is onto an old book page, the
other is onto plain white copy paper. I LOVE how imperfect they came out-yummy!

cards

Here are a couple of very simple cards I made today using the Triple Play technique out of

My first ever workshop (yes, I am teaching)

I have to say......I am SO SO nervous. I DO NOT do crowds. I am great like one on one and I am a real people person. But, get me in front of a crowd and my words are jumbled and I am so so nervous that is what will happen.

I am creating art like crazy right now for this thing! What a great write up they gave me though! The pressure is definitely on! I feel like I have alot to live up to! eek!!

Counting Crows

Its been a while since I have done a crow themed canvas.........and I was in the mood to do one so I did :) The crows on this are transferred directly to the canvas. All underneath them is vintage ephemera that has been painted . I added a bit of handmade and lace paper for the final touch.
