TMTA-Metal

Here's my creation for today's TMTA! Metal is the theme. Quite a challenge this was-I have not done anything with metal for ages. I used metal tape, stamped it and embossed on it with my embossing tool, and also used a watch part and embedded the face in it.

Getting back on track

Now that the kids are back in school, I feel like I am sort of starting to get back on my schedule again. Gillian had preschool in the afternoons and it messed me up somewhat-I can get more done if she goes in the morning. Luckily her kindergarten class is in the morning. yippee!!

Today I did a little stamping-not much. But, I am including the card I made today in this post. I used some Pam Bell /Lucid Dreams stamps for this one.

I managed to start working on a collage on canvas I am going to be donating to a travelling exhibit, the theme is "white on white." I have meant to work on this for MONTHS. Now I feel like I can. I work better when no one is here-I sort of go into my "zone" and create away.

I didn't really have a vision for this particular piece. I just sort of started it and so far its looking very good. Its a bit of a challenge, working with just white, but I like a challenge-it sort of makes you "think outside the box" so to speak. I am doing some different stuff-just going wherever my imagination takes me. I will post it when I am done :)

First day of school

Its the first day of school today-its a bit bittersweet with my little one. It will be interesting-they put her in a special ed class, due to her developmental delays. I am struggling with it. I know eventually I will accept it, but, its hard. Luckily my good friend is an aid in the class-that makes it at least easier on me, and I know she is great with the kids. Gillian had a rough start today-I would have been fine until I saw the way she acted out this morning. She has to adjust-its a huge adjustment for her being at a bigger school, new people, new surroundings. I just hope this transition will be okay for her. Fingers crossed, anyway. I hope tomorrow is better for her than today was.
Aidan got the teacher he wanted-yay! I am excited for him. Last year he got a teacher that wasn't too great, so I am thrilled to know he got this particular teacher.

so sad

I am So sad.............my friend of many years, Vickie Enkoff, has just passed away.
Alot of you know her from her business, Chaos Poste. She was a wonderful, giving person.
She has not been in good health for a while, but this happened just way too fast.
It hasn't totally hit me yet, I feel sort of zombie-like. She was taken to the hospital last night and I received a call late last night from her good friend and mine, Pam Bell. I hardly slept.
Pam and I have spoke multiple times today, she has kept me up to date on all the details.
I was trying to get a bit of rest, and the phone rang and it was her telling me she had just passed away.
It just doesn't seem like this is real.
Every month, Vickie opened her home to some of us in the area to go socialize and do art. Each month they did something different. I had gone a few times and loved it-I wish I could have gone more. She was SO hospitable and shared her supplies. Despite her health problems she was always SO upbeat and positive. I think her business and the art group was what kept her going. She was truly an amazing woman, and will be sorely missed. I will miss her sweet, upbeat comments. I will miss her emails. I will miss the art group, even though I was not able to go often.
Because I just took Pam Bell's stamp line and the Lucid Dreams stamp line, I had alot of emails last week with Vickie. Lots of things were said and we talked about her health, how she was feeling, etc. She said she was not feeling bad, and that she actually had more energy than she had in a while since she was put on Oxygen recently. She wanted to do things-go outside for walks, etc. Despite how she felt, she continued to work, and to work hard.
My gosh what a huge loss to the stamping community.

Belle Papier Sheet

This is card I stamped using the "Glowing Oil Pastels" technique from the April 2007 Technique Junkies newsletter. Oil pastels are one of my most favorite things. Stamps are from the Belle Papier sheet in the Lucid Dreams line.

French Postoid ATC

Having a play with the "Belle Papier" Sheet from the Lucid Dreams Line. For some reason I was in the mood for Pink and Brown, so thats what I used for colors on this ATC. I LOVE this sheet.

I did do just a quick card.........but thats all I could manage today. Oh well-at least its something!

The "art" word is from the Lucid Dreams collection and the other image is one of Pam Bells, which I should be getting this week. I did the "Scraped Oil Pastels" background for this one. I LOVE the scraped oil pastels background :)

A little more stamping

I fit just another bit of stamping in today.........for some reason lately I am totally LOVING sponging using my wonderful, favorite Adirondack inks :)

This is one of the new images I will be offering soon as well-its from the Lucid Dreams collection-a collaboration between Vickie Enkoff and Pam Bell. Again, lucious, FAB images.

Its been a busy week

My husband has been off work allllll week, hence interrupting my regular schedule!

We have been to disneyland this week, the beach, and we celebrated Gilly's 5th birthday yesterday :) Its been fun to say the least-just completely off schedule LOL I have not done any stamping since Monday.

I am acquiring another stamp line(s) soon, and played with a couple of the new images. Not a whole lot, but it felt good to stamp today, even if it was just a wee bit.

I am excited about the new images-they are some I used to press up for a friend a few years back, but now our other friend is selling her stamp line so I have agreed to take Pam Bell's line and do them for her. In fact, they are on my site already-just need to get the plates. That should be this week. They are FAB images!

I am attaching a picture of my Silly Gilly in her Mickey Mouse hat-I couldn't resist :)

I outlined the tag with a Prismacolor pencil.
Stamps, of course, are Time To Stamp :)

Scraped Oil Pastels

I was dying to try the "Scraped Oil Pastels" technique that is in the recent issue of "Technique Junkies" so I tried it today. Being the technique took baby oil I really wondered if it would have an oily residue but it didn't at all-it stamped beautifully!
I tried this technique on an old book page and it worked beautifully as well :)

Playing with Portfolio Oil Pastels

I realized it had been a while since I got out my Portfolio Oil Pastels so today thats what I did :)

One of my favorite backgrounds EVER is to scribble them onto your cardstock or matboard (whatever you are using) and then go over it with a light coat of Gesso. Then after its dried a bit, I usually grab a paper towel and scrub some of the gesso off-it gives it a sort of distressed look that I love :)

Fun with Starburst Stains

Starburst Stains are fun stuff (made by Lindy's Stamp Gang and they have a dauber on the top). I haven't played with them for a while so today I thought that was what I would bring out. I got my favorite "Color Diffusing Paper" out that I love SO well and just daubbed these on -spritzing with water as I went along and crumpling the paper up in between drying with the heat too. The crumbling of the paper really helped the colors to blend better. After I crumpled and straightened out the paper for the last time I rubbed my black ink pad over it, to create more texture. love it-it has the texture of momi paper, which I love.

hmmmmmmmmm..........what should I do today?

Thats what I said today..........I have felt a little lazy this afternoon........knew I wanted to stamp SOMETHING but had no idea what I wanted to play with today. So, I grabbed some Glossy paper, a few Color Mist Sprays (the ones from Outside the Margins) and some powdered pigments. I sprayed my glossy with 3 different coordinating color mist sprays, then added a wee bit of powdered pigments randomly. I then applied another piece of glossy (same size as the other) and pressed down for the ink to spread and peeled off the top. Voila! I am loving doing backgrounds that involve a couple pieces of paper (like this) because I always have a sheet to put away for later when I am in a pinch for time :)

The background is more subtle than it looks in the scan.

I made a quick atc with the background and I am attaching that too :)
