New Collage: 5 Senses

I just finished a new collage on canvas! Its been a while since I have done an image transfers or anything, and this image REALLY spoke to me for some reason. I transferred this image to the canvas 2-3 weeks ago and didn't know what t do with it from there, so it sat :)

Today for some reason I was inspired to do something.

There is a story that sort of goes along with this. This image is actually a child. I was originally set out to do something for "Art for Autism" and just didn't get anymore inspiration to complete this. Now for the story. My daughter was diagnosed with Autism back mid march (some of you know that). She has MAJOR sensory issues and is in therapy to help her cope. On the side of this child's face are symbols of the 5 senses (sight, sounds, touch, smell, taste). And of course a 5-it needed one more thing and I just LOVE numbers :)

So, essentially my daughter inspired this piece. With the way we deal with sensory issues on a day to day basis, I have wanted to do something having to do with the senses for a while now. I can see myself doing more on this subject in the future.
This piece contains: Collage, acrylics, image transfer and water soluble crayon. Its 6x8 on canvas.

TMTA-Smile!

This weeks challenge at TMTA is Smile. This stamp is the first one I thought of 'cos this baby image makes me smile :)

I brayered the background, then smudged some gesso on it, then dabbed some EZ Tintz on it for the background.

Bird Postoid Bind It All Book

I had more fun today with the bind it all! I thought I would never finish this today with the running around I did today.

I did the background using the "Scraped Oil Pastels" technique that I just simply LOVE!!!

I use matboard for the covers-I just LOVE how sturdy it is and I have a load of it from when I used to teach book making classes YEARS ago :) Glad I have so much on hand!

Background stamp is from the Pam Bell Collection, and the bird postoid is from one of my Bird Stamp Sheets.

Wednesday Stamper: Fish

I finally got to do a WEE bit of stamping today. The background is done with Twinkling H20's . Stamp is by Moe Wubba (now available from My Paper Moon) that I just LOVED but I sold that line off-so it was exciting to use this stamp after such a long time as it was one of my favorite ones :)

I sprayed a bit of cheescloth with Ranger Color Wash in Stream and just used a plain ole glue stick to stick it to the ATC. Oh, and the Play stamp is one from the Pam Bell Collection, available through Time To Stamp. It needed a little more so I used some sequin waste as a stencil and sponged on some ink.

Meet "Sumo"

Here's our new puppy, Sumo. He's a Shih Tzu. He was given to us by a friend-he has AKC papers and all. He's really sweet! We sort of wanted a smaller dog for inside the house and also Gilly LOVES dogs, so this was ideal! I couldn't say no to him :) the next few days might be rough though-he will probably cry because he is now away from a brother and his mama.

Bind It All!

At last! Some time to play! I have had a REALLY bad week, plus I was really busy so that = no play time for me all week! But today I was inspired. We were gone all morning and I came home and found that I had received my new "Bind it all!" Yippeeeeee! I put it to the test this afternoon, and finished the book this evening.

I cut pieces of matboard for the covers and a piece of canvas to the size of the cover.

I painted it, stamped it and collaged on some handpainted papers and added a touch of Caran D'Ache crayons (my favorite!). It needed more so I added some ribbon to the binding.

I can tell I am going to have fun with this machine! It cut through the covers with ease and was so easy to use from start to finish. This thing is just totally awesome.
