Wednesday Stamper: Alter Me!

This week's wednesday stamper theme is Alter Me! Belinda posted a couple of old cab cards to alter. I found this a real challenge for sure LOL

I gave her a much needed new outfit.......and added a cool background using caran d'ache crayons and stamps from Innovative Stamp Creations (polka dot, word) and my favorite text stamp from Time To Stamp

Crazy Amigo Challenge:Dolls

This is the first time I have participated in this challenge......the theme is Dolls and the first thing I thought of was the Newsprint Dolls sheet from I Brake For Stamps/Time To Stamp.

I first did the background on heavy watercolor paper with oil pastels and gesso.

Then I stamped her in black india ink and cut her out and assembled her with brads.

She needed something for the head so I used this jewelry finding thingy I had-it worked perfect. Added a heart eyelet to her and a poetry bead to finish her off.

Mixed Media Monday:Girls and Dolls

Whew-its been a while since I have done anything creative, so it felt good to do a little something today! I had some viral bug or something, still not 100% but getting there.

This is an ATC for Mixed Media Monday and the theme is Girls and Dolls. I found a collage image I have had for ages from Bernie Berlin that I used here. The stamps are from InkaStamps. I also used one of my most favorite of all art supplies, gold foil.

a HUGE compliment!

I have been quiet all week, I know! I have had a sore throat all week and last night it got so painful I went to urgent care. Today I have no voice and I am just tired so I am taking it easy.

Anyway, I came home to a message today from the lady who purchased my "Wayland's Watching " piece at the recent art show (it ends today actually) that is pictured here. She said she had some questions. Hmmmmmmm.......I thought. It kinda made me nervous actually!LOL I have never had someone call me after purchasing my art before.

So I called her back-I hardly have a voice right now but I called her back soon after I listened to the message. She asked me alot of questions on like how I did things and what I used, and how I named him (winking at Carmen!).........and she told me how excited she was to have the piece and how she loved it. I was so flattered.

This lady has been exhibiting for a long time and is a great artist herself. Towards the end of the phone call she asked me "Where did you go to art school?" She was so surprised when I told her I am completely self taught. She then said "You are gonna go places!"

Now how HUGE a compliment is that???? I feel like I am floating on air. That meant so much.

I still consider myself fairly new to all this...........so WOW!!!

I really wanted to go down to the gallery and take a last look at my pieces that sold. But, I just didn't get there this week. I was sort of sad about it earlier. When I came home to that phone call it just made my entire day. Its so awesome to know, that something I created made someone else that happy. As hard as it is to let go of my work when it sells, calls like that I received today made it all worth it! What an awesome feeling.

Tomorrow I go pick up the one piece that didn't sell-I am actually very excited to hang her in my home. I am anxious to update my house with some newer artwork. I have alot of my older stuff from a few years back on the walls......my style has really changed so I really want to update it.

Theme Thursday: Orange and Black

This was fun! I love using orange but don't do it too often.

These stamps I think are old Teesha and Tracy Moore ones.........I have had these at least 10 years! I dug these out recently when I was organizing some of my stuff. It brought back memories! I have a whole slew of other ones like these-the funky sort of ones that I forgot I had! I need to bring these out and play more often! The text one here, of course, is one of my favorites from Time To Stamp

Here's what was in the box! Wowzers! My mouth just dropped when I opened the box!

the miracles of giving up sugar-an update

Okay I confess........I have screwed up a few times......okay, more than a few! But, it wasn't like the binging I was doing! :) But even when I DO screw up on it, because the rest of my diet is good, it doesn't hit me as hard as it used to. I would bottom out by around 2pm-had to take naps every day and I would still wake up exhausted. Now, I able to stay up till like 11pm, wake up 5:30-6am and stay up all day with no naps at all-generally I am not even tired. Its just amazing to me. My mind does not feel fuzzy and I feel happy-not grumpy. No more headaches! I constantly had headaches. When I was consuming the quantity of sugar and pepsi that I was, I was a mess (okay, I admit it). I could not figure out why I was so tired and unhappy about everything-I had NO reason to feel that way. I know in my blog posts you probably could not tell I felt that way-I didn't want anyone to know.....it drove me crazy that I felt the way I did. I have none of that now........its SO awesome! Its still a bit tough to get up in the morning, but as long as I get up first thing and head for my yogurt (plain-ugh-but it has loads of protein) I do pretty good. Walking past my favorite sweets at the store is much less tempting now too.......so I think I am on my way :) I just gotta stick with this. I will also admit I am getting addicted to going to the gym-I went 5 days last week and will probably do the same this week. I LOVE starting my day out that way-I have even more energy the rest of the day when I go.

Created By Hand Challenge:Stencils

This could not come at a better time.......I have never been much for stencils, but I just got a couple from Small Studio so this gave me a chance to use one!

This is a regular ole shipping tag........I have a zillion that I never use, so thought I would do one up-maybe I can put this in a future art journal or something (otherwise I am not sure what I will do with this LOL). Stamps by Quietfire Design
I stenciled the "Make Every Day Count" onto a piece of textured cardstock and taped it on with that nifty "Gaffers Tape" put out by 7 gypsies-love that stuff.

Think Monday Think ATC: Spring!

the theme at Think Monday Think ATC this week is spring! I immediately thought of birds and flowers. Stamps by Time to Stamp
